1996年、ちょうどインターネットが家庭に普及し始め北米でもインターネット契約ができるようになり

30MBのサーバーを借りてアメリカ50州制覇に挑戦の状況をホームページに書き込んでいました。

In 1996, just as the internet was beginning to spread into ordinary households and it became possible to get an internet connection in North America,

I rented a 30‑MB server and posted updates on my homepage about my challenge to visit all 50 U.S. states.

30MBの容量のホームページはアメリカ50州の小さい写真をアップロードしてすぐにいっぱいになり放置というか自然終了。

2回目のアメリカ駐在の終盤でブログのサイトが借りれるようになって備忘録のアップロードを始めました。

写真は無料Cloudができてそこに保存するようになりましたが、Microsoft, Goodle とも徐々に有料化されて今はAmazonに保存先を変えています。

ブログの容量を抑えるため、写真はGoogle のリンクで表示するようになりました。

The 30‑MB homepage quickly filled up after I uploaded small photos from all 50 U.S. states,

and I eventually left it as it was — it more or less ended on its own.

Toward the end of my second assignment in the United States,

I was finally able to rent a blog site and began uploading entries as a personal record.

When free cloud storage services became available, I started saving my photos there,

but as both Microsoft and Google gradually shifted to paid plans, I moved my photo storage to Amazon.

To keep my blog’s storage usage down, I now display photos using Google links instead of uploading them directly.
